In 2000-2001 the Swedisch company Skanska build for German car producer Volkswagen this road wich goes from the airbase towards the icecap wich is about 45-50 km and then about 150 km on the ice.
On the ice is a permanend testing ground for cars build in 2001, there's a hotel and other facilities to accommodate 40 employees. Access is strictly forbidden.
